Cross-Connection Control Public Outreach Materials

The December 2023 update to the Cross-Connection Control (CCC) Policy Handbook requires public water systems to submit a CCC plan, which must contain an education and outreach element that includes educating staff, customers, and the community about backflow protection and cross-connection control. This requirement can be implemented through a variety of methods such as water bill inserts, pamphlets, new customer documentation, email, and consumer confidence reports. To help meet these requirements and provide consistent messaging across the State, CUWA developed the following public outreach materials:

  • Bill Insert

  • Pamphlet

  • Website or Digital Content

  • Training Presentation

  • Consumer Confidence Report Language

  • Illustrations of CCC principles

These materials were developed for use by CUWA member agencies and have been made available on CUWA’s website for use by others, with credit to CUWA.
